With such young, motivated entrepreneurs and great ideas for Biohealth, it leaves no question why programs like BIO-ALL are on the point to promote a transversal acceleration of new solutions and innovative startups…

Hack for Covid, promoted by the Curricular Unit of Project in Biomedical Sciences and UBImedical took place on May 28th and June 4th 2020, and the winning project was CovidSight. CovidSight is an Artificial Intelligence tool for screening possible people infected by Covid-19, which resorts to the control of temperature, personal protective equipment, and social distancing. The promoters of the winning initiative are Master and Doctorate students of Informatic Engineering at the University of Beira Interior, namely Vasco Lopes, Bruno Degradin, Nuno Pereira and João Ramôa. This hackathon encompassed a mentorship session and a Pitch competition. Given the circumstances of Covid-19 this year (3rd edition) happened online. The invited Jury members are representatives of UBImedical, of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior and the Hospital and of a pharmaceutical sector startup: Ana Palmeira (LabFit), Manuel Lemos (director of UBImedical) and Miguel Castelo-Branco (FCS-UBI’s president and service director on the Hospital).
